The King Leaves

"Yuvraj was present in the team when the team needed someone like him" these were the words of Sachin Tendulkar on the launch of his auto-biography. Indeed those words mean a lot Yuvraj was present in all the memorable moments of Indian cricket. Be it the 2002 Natwest trophy final or be it the 2007 T20 world cup and also in the 2011 World cup. Yuvraj Singh was the torch bearer for maintaining an aura around him for the 90's kids , starting from those intriguing cover drives to those engrossing pull shots and those breath taking fielding efforts and also the way he used to portray himself off the field and was looked up as the Style Icon.
Yuvi broke into the limelight with his magnificent knock of 358 versus Bihar in the 1999/00 Cooch-Behar trophy and was immediately drafted into the U-19 world cup side led by Mohd Kaif. India won that tournament with Yuvraj being the star for India with both bat and ball. Later, he was picked for the ICC Knockout championship (later renamed as champions trophy) on the back of his heroics in the U-19 world cup. He made his debut against Kenya in the Pre-Quarter Finals but bowled only four overs and did not get to bat.In the Quarter finals against Australia Yuvraj scored an 80 ball 84 and helped India reach the Semi finals. Yuvi was highly appraised by the cricketing fraternity for the character shown by him with both bat and ball and also for his brilliant fielding.
Yuvraj scored an important 67 against England in the final of Natwest trophy 2002 and also started to establish himself in the Indian Middle order. He became the pioneer for hitting six sixes in an over for the first time in T20 cricket when he toiled Stuart Broad all across Kings Mead.

He won the Man of the series award for his heroics in the 2007 T20 world cup.
Since, then Yuvi played numerous mind blowing knocks and bowled out top batters in the world and also ran out many greats. He was the real 3 dimensional player for India and in fact the team was very fortunate to have him.
Then came the 2011 world cup which was held in India and there were high expectations on Team India and TeamIndia was able to full-fill the dreams of 1.2 billion on the back of this boy from Punjab who kept aside his physical trauma and scored 352 runs with the bat and also 15 scalps with ball to his name.

His performance against West-indies was special because of the physical strain which he had undergone (he vomited blood during his batting) . His all round show 113(126) and 2/18 helped India Face the defending champions Australia in the Quarter Finals. In the Quater finals Yuvraj's unbeaten 57 helped India knock out the World Champions.
Later Yuvraj was diagnosed with a tumor in his right lung and has undergone treatment in USA and was victorious in the battle against the deadly disease. Yuvi used to eat as many as 66 tablets per day during that period.

Later , he came back into the team and excelled but lack of form, fitness and injuries made him work harder and harder. Yuvi scored his career best ODI knock of 150(134) against England in Cuttack on 19th January 2017. Yuvraj also played in the 2017 Champions Trophy and also adjudged man of the match against Pakistan in a league game. Yuvraj last played for India aginst Windes on June 30th 2017.

Yuvraj started an Organisation called YOU WE CAN (YWC) which helps cancer patients in their medical expenses and they also sell merchandise to raise funds. Many players may come and go but surely no one ever could match Yuvi. For all those memories he has left and that character of Never Give Up and lastly making 90's kids childhood awesome #ThankYouYuvi
